I’ve been reading Isaiah 51 today. It seems to be about Messiah. It’s also about judgment. It’s about fearing God rather than men, in particular those men who revile & reprove – they will be punished. Towards the end it appears to be about possible punishment from God on his own people. I’m not sure if it is yet to come or if it’s an already passed judgment that has happened. Whatever the judgment is it will never happen again.
As I was reading today, God I spoke to me and mentioned that he was very pleased with me (over the recent time period).
In the following two verses:
“I, even I, am He who comforts you.
Who are you that you are afraid of man who dies
And of the son of man who is made like grass,
13 That you have forgotten the Lord your Maker,
Who stretched out the heavens
And laid the foundations of the earth,
That you fear continually all day long because of the fury of the oppressor,
As he makes ready to destroy?
But where is the fury of the oppressor?
I believe in these two verses it is indicating God actually is upset about or considers it a sin to fear someone other than him more than him.
